[Oh, no, definitely not the weirdest (especially if you get a good sight of what a ghoul looks like when fighting with its kagune), but usually the most problematic. Back home he would've been exterminated and used piecemeal for "parts" before anything else. The clemency brokered to him now by the CDC is a little startling in comparison.]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

No. I would simply... prefer it not be children.

Personally, but also functionally as well. I believe it's an average of 60kg a month which is an average diet. Children are... smaller.

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

Does that include bodies that show up which do technically have ID codes?

[You might need those for clues or something but... uh... afterward...]
dearkafka: (why do i put up with this)

[personal profile] dearkafka 2014-12-08 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah... No one gets it back home either, human or ghoul. The woes of being a half-ghoul, caught in the middle, having to eat people but feeling bad about it.]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

Besides... that, though. How would this work? Regarding food every month, that is.

I would prefer no one know and to keep it that way. I would hate for it to somehow disrupt what we are called on to do.

[Yeah, but how bad is it breaking the rules, Dagger... He's only been here for less than a day... He'd hate to get on any of the higher-ups' bad sides so early...]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

The meat itself, fairly quickly. It's what I get from it that's the important part. They're called "Rc cells," and each human body has a certain amount of them.

Ghouls can use these as a very efficient energy source. They also allow us to use what abilities we have.

Science was always my weakest subject, so I'm afraid I can't explain further, but that's how it works as far as I'm aware.
dearkafka: (ok if you say so)

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

That's how it works, to the best of my knowledge.

[Hell, if they could get a Rc injection to keep Kaneki from eating, that might work. Not quite as tasty, but not quite as much moral dilemma either. But... give him too much, and he's back to building his kakuja and closer to unraveling out of control. No, probably best just to eat the way god intended ghouls to.]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

Oh, no.

I can't really eat the bones, actually.

[Bone marrow, sure, but the rest...]

[Not really what he wants to hear, but he can (hopefully) manage.]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

I believe so, yes.

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

I might need to tell you, though, should it get bad enough that I feel I might become a danger to anyone else on this ship.

But I do think I've got some time before anything like that.

[His self-control was not perfect; certainly not as good as other ghouls', but that mostly had to do with the fact that he was only half-ghoul in the first place. It was an unstable mix.]
dearkafka: (embarrassed laugh)

[personal profile] dearkafka 2015-02-13 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[If one could nervously laugh over a text-based communication system, Kaneki would be doing that right now.]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

Thank you for your help, Dagger-san.

Admittedly I'm unused to something like this being treated in such a way.

[Read: no one back home is so chill about aiding requisite cannibals.]

[Always glad to be of use to someone.]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

That's not very reassuring to hear about this team.

And... if you feel strongly about that, sure.

[He's just not very used to people calling him by his first name, really, but, hey, whatever the bossman says..]
dearkafka: (gather up)

[He's not going to get the American pop culture references, though the Kesha one would be funny.]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

You really seem to enjoy nicknames...

[Looks like a Western name................ American, he's pretty sure........ uh........]

FROM: kaneki.ken@cdc.org

Sure?

[Too intimidated of bossman to say no currently.]
