Usually. Sometimes they straight up lie to us, though. You kind of learn to deal with it after a few cycles.
[ He doesn't sound so bothered, but when you've been doing this for centuries, it's easier to manage the lies where the bosses can't hit you back. Dagger's seen some of the bigger lies the CDC can give - lived through a few of them, all told. He'd still rather not know the truth. ]

[ Steve never did get how anyone can be okay working around so many secrets, so that kind of attitude about all this is beyond him.

[ Don't look at Dagger. He was a worker drone back home; he's fine with little to no agency. It's part of why he's partial to Barnes; he gets him, just a bit. ]

He's only spoken to him twice since they got here, and both times were to stop him from killing someone else and hurting himself. Steve's figuring this all out as he goes and Dagger just caused last night's problem because a) he doesn't quite get it either and/or b) he did it on purpose to see what would happen. Steve needs to know which it is. ]
